What is a chamber, anyway?

A chamber of commerce is an organization of businesses seeking to further their collective interests while advancing the community, region, state or nation. The very first one began in 1599 in France! The U.S. Chamber of Commerce was created in 1912 after President William Taft suggested the need for cooperation between business and government.

The Fargo Chamber of Commerce was established in 1879, and merged with Moorhead in 1997, followed by West Fargo in 2010. Today, we're one of the largest local chambers in the Midwest.

A collective voice through an association like a chamber matters because we can do more together. With your support, we can work for you, for the community. We know that a strong business climate is essential for economic growth and prosperity as a region.
